We feed, educate, and medically assist the poor in Calcutta, India.

History of Calcutta Mercy Ministries and missionaries Mark and Huldah Buntain

We provide daily meals to thousands of hungry men, women, and children across Calcutta. Every $1 invested yields 4 meals, with current production totals at 60,000 meals each week.

We believe solving hunger provides the foundation for progress in other areas of development, including education and medical care. Here is the impact we’ve made since our initial food project in 1965.

The Significant $1

Every $1 invested yields 4 nutritious meals for India’s hungry poor. These meals transform lives, and come at a surprisingly low cost. Feeding the poor is a smart investment and provides the foundation for progress in other areas of development, including education and medical care.

We provide education to impoverished children who lack access to quality and affordable schools. We support 100+ schools with a current enrollment of 32,000 students.

We believe that building better boys and girls through education will build a better India. Here is the impact we’ve made since the dedication of our first primary school in January 1965.

A Child Changed with $1 a Day

A daily investment of about $1 provides an accredited education, free meal, and free medical care to a poor child in India. A child’s education promises the child a better future and encourages the healthy development of her community.

We provide medical care to 100,000 men, women, and children across Calcutta every year. We treat 40% of those patients at no cost to them.

We believe free medical care saves thousands of lives and raises living standards across Calcutta. Here is the impact we’ve made since our first medical project in 1970.

Save a life with $35 a month

$35 a month is all it takes to treat a child diagnosed with leukemia or thalassemia in India. $35 covers the hospital stay and monthly blood transfusions necessary for the child maintain a high quality of life. It’s a small price tag for what it delivers: the stamina to stay in school, strength to help the family, and energy to run and play with friends.
